Rising Concerns Over Bike Racing Gangs on Kovalam Kazhakootam Bypass: More than 20 Lives Lost in Past Year

Sankhummugam: The Police Motor Vehicle Department is also looking into the matter as it is unable to take action against the bike racing gangs that are proliferating in the Kovalam Kazhakootam Bypass. Bike racing is done by hiding the number plate without being caught by the cameras.

In the past one year, more than 20 lives have been lost on the Kovalam Kazhakootam route alone during the race. As racing clubs became active in the capital, the number of racers also increased. Racing is all about betting and getting likes on new media.

Competitions are held by changing the appearance of vehicles. It is alleged that the motor vehicle department and the police are not ready for this, even though there is a law to seize such vehicles.
