The Belgian coach, who seven years ago briefly tried to establish cooperation with Petra Kvitová, has not yet commented on the end of training with the Chinese talent. But when he said goodbye to Osaka after a series of disappointing results in the summer of 2022, he indicated that they did not part entirely on bad terms.
“It has been a privilege to coach Naomi since 2019 and see her grow into a champion. She has inspired a whole new generation of tennis,” he said.
Osaka was then prepared by her father for several months, after which she became pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl in July of this year. She plans to return to the tennis courts next year after her maternity break, and it looks like Fissette will be there.
