TRIBUNPONTIANAK.CO.ID, MEMPAWAH – Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Health Service for Population Control and Family Planning (Diskes-PPKB) Mempawah, Harun Arraysid said, from January to early October 2023 there have been 10 residents who have died due to cases of Dengue Fever. Dengue (DHF).
“As of October, 10 Mempawah residents have died from dengue fever. Both died in Mempawah and in referral hospitals outside Mempawah,” explained Harun, Monday 16 October 2023.
Harun said that many cases of death due to dengue fever occurred because patients came to health facilities in serious condition, or were taken to health facilities too late. So it is also difficult for health facilities to take action to treat dengue fever.
“The ages of those who died varied, but the majority were dominated by children,” he explained.
Regarding this dengue fever case, Harun confirmed that his party together with health facilities had carried out preventive steps, namely eradicating mosquito nests, one of which was fogging.
“Now we have actually carried out the control stages. We have also issued a circular to health facilities so that they can carry out early detection if there are patients who have symptoms of dengue fever so that immediate action can be taken to diagnose suspected dengue fever,” he said.
“At the Community Health Center there is also a tool for rapid testing, to quickly find out whether there is the dengue fever virus or not in the patient’s body,” he concluded.
