Rise of AI: The Danger of Fake Voice Calls and Misleading Information

That in itself is nothing new. This was happening even before we had AI, with pranksters who were good at imitating voices calling world leaders and occasionally hearing things they might not have intended. These developments simply mean that they will be monitored more strictly, and that they will not simply put through every jodocus who claims to be the president of Farawayistan.

Creative cutting and pasting with samples to get someone to say something that person has never said is also older. What makes AI especially possible is that it is much more accessible, and often more convincing. Again, that just means more control. The first “no that wasn’t me, that was an AI” excuses have already been spotted.
