Rise in Monkeypox Cases in DKI Jakarta: Health Advisory and Prevention Measures

Jakarta: Citizen DKI Jakarta advised to be more vigilant about the rise in cases monkey pox. Cases of monkey pox or monkeypox in DKI Jakarta increased to 13 people.

“The DKI Jakarta Health Service urges residents to be more alert and take steps to prevent this disease,” said the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Mohammad Syahril, in a written statement, Wednesday, October 25 2023.

Residents are asked to always wear masks and wash their hands using soap and running water. “Residents who are sick are expected to immediately isolate themselves,” said Syahril.

Apart from that, the DKI Jakarta Health Office hopes that residents will maintain better reproductive health by being faithful to one partner. Because monkey pox can be transmitted through sexual activity.

“This virus can also be transferred through hands, skin contact, wounds and during sexual activity,” he said.

Monkey pox is also known to be transmitted through droplets, phlegm, sneezing and saliva.
