Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Malaysia again recorded a daily record of Covid-19 infection cases, namely 22,242 new cases on Wednesday (18/8/2021). This number exceeded the daily cases in Indonesia on the same day, Covid-19 added 15,768 patients.
Reported from The Star, Director General of Health Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cumulative total of Covid-19 infections in the country had now reached 1,466,512.
In a tweet, Nor Hisham said the Selangor region had the most cases with 6,858 new infections. Followed by Sabah with 2,413 cases, Penang (1,867) and Kedah (1,852).
While cases in Kuala Lumpur (1,587), Johor (1,477), Sarawak (1,403), Kelantan (1,351), Perak (1,036), Pahang (675), Melaka (579), Negri Sembilan (577), Terengganu (487), Perlis (50), Putrajaya (25) and Labuan (five).
The neighboring country also recorded 225 more deaths due to Covid-19, bringing the total national death toll to 13,302.
A further 19,680 patients were discharged during the same period, bringing the total recovery to 1,198,726. At least now there are 254,484 active cases nationwide. Of that number, 1,060 are in the intensive care unit, more than half (540 cases) on a ventilator.
