The wife of the mayor of the French town of L’Hay-les-Roses was injured when she fled from rioters. Riots have broken out in several cities since Tuesday after a police officer shot and killed 17-year-old Nahel.
According to the newspaper Le Figaro was Mayor Jeanbrun at the time of the attack on the town hall. It was barricaded at the time. A group of people went to his home, which was not secured. There they drove a car through the garden gate after which they set the car on fire. When the mayor’s wife fled with their two young children, the demonstrators gave chase. The woman was injured and has been taken to hospital.

The riots started in his hometown of Nanterre, a suburb of Paris, but soon the violence spread to other French cities, including Paris, Nice, Marseille and Montpellier. Many people are angry at the actions of the police. They accuse the corps of being racist and too aggressive.
