Riots broke out in New York over a giveaway from popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat. Around 3:30 p.m. local time, Cenat was supposed to be giving away Playstation 5s, computers and microphones in Union Square, but thousands of people had turned out within a short time and the atmosphere changed.
The youths threw pylons and ran in all directions. Images show how they also jump on cars and pelt police officers with objects. An unknown number of people have been arrested.
The New York Police Department says things have gotten completely out of hand. In the meantime, Kai Cenat would have been arrested and taken to the police station.
Kai Cenat is the world’s most popular streamer on Twitch, a popular video website where mainly gamers make live broadcasts of their gaming sessions. He has about 6.5 million followers on the platform.
