Not only the current top of the ÖSV, but also the former head of the Ski Federation Peter Schröcks Nadel is not friends with the official behavior of the FIS president Johan Eliasch. “I can no longer support his way of leading the association,” Eliasch’s former “kingmaker” told “Kurier”. He should think about how the World Ski Federation can find its way back to calmer waters, otherwise “it must go”, said Schröcks Nadel in the “Kleine Zeitung” (Saturday editions).
The 81-year-old played a key role in enthroning the Anglo-Swedish businessman two years ago. According to “Kurier”, there are now “elementary differences of opinion”, Schröcks Nadel was “deceived” in Eliasch. A bone of contention is the central marketing of the World Cup competitions to which Eliasch aims, especially in the Alpine division. For Schröcks Nadel, the plans amount to weakening and “expropriating” the national ski associations.
“He wants it all now”
As the “Kleine Zeitung” writes, the Tyrolean was appointed director of the FIS Marketing Society after leaving the FIS Council, but met with resistance from Eliasch. “He wants everything immediately, but it is not possible. So he also seeks solutions for legal disputes, it is not my way. So I went out,” said Schröcks Nadel, according to “Kleine”.
The ÖSV challenged Eliasch’s re-election in May 2022: the case will be heard on December 5 before the CAS of the International Sports Court. In this context, ÖSV is grumbling internally, as the two newspapers report.
Because in the newly founded FIS M&M company, which will act as the central contact point for all future media, broadcast, marketing and sponsorship rights business, a daughter of ÖSV finance officer Patrick Ortlieb recently worked as “Marketing & Sales Coordinator ”, as can also be seen from the LinkedIn social network. Schröcks Nadel considers this constellation incompatible. Ortlieb is ready to step down from his duties in the Austrian association if desired.
