In an interview with the Los Angeles Times Damon Albarn says Taylor Swift doesn’t write her own songs. When the interviewer says she does and sometimes co-writes with others, Albarn says, “That doesn’t count. I know what co-authoring is. It’s completely different from writing. There’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who writes with others.”
Who he does find an interesting songwriter is Billie Eilish. Eilish writes her songs together with her brother Finneas. “I’m more drawn to that than to Taylor Swift. It’s just darker, less infinitely happy. I think she’s exceptional.”
