Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Director General of State Assets Ministry of Finance (Ministry of Finance) Rionald Silaban officially inaugurated as Chairman of the Task Force (Satgas) for Handling State Claims for the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance Fund (BLBI) today, Friday (4/6).
Rio, as he is familiarly called, will take on the task of leading the pursuit of BLBI fund assets in accordance with the laws and regulations. He will lead the task force formed with a term of service until December 31, 2023.
Jokowi’s appointment was previously stated in Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 6 of 2021 concerning the Task Force for Handling State Collection Rights for BLBI Funds. The regulation was issued on April 6, 2021.
Jokowi formed the BLBI Task Force because the value of the BLBI fund assets that should have returned to the country was relatively large. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Human Rights Mahfud MD noted that the value of BLBI fund assets that could be returned to the state reached Rp110.45 trillion.
In detail, the bills are in the form of loans of Rp. 101 trillion, property of more than Rp. 8 trillion, and the rest is in the form of foreign currency and shares.
Before being officially sworn in as Chairman of the BLBI Task Force, Rio had stated that he would continue to pursue BLBI funds even if they had to go abroad. Rio noted that there were 22 obligors involved and were targeted by the government and debtors in large numbers.
“Basically, the government will collect, so even if we have to collect and chase assets abroad, we will do that,” said Rio, some time ago.
From a career perspective, Rio actually just got a new assignment from Sri Mulyani to become the Director General of State Assets of the Ministry of Finance. Precisely since March 12, 2021.
He replaced Isa Rachmatarwata who was appointed Director General of the Ministry of Finance’s Budget. Prior to DJKN, he held the position of Head of the Financial Education and Training Agency (BPPK).
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani once called Rio the “richest person in Indonesia” considering his task of managing state assets whose value reaches more than IDR 6,000 trillion.
“I thank Mr. Isa who is already well-known as the ‘richest person’ in Indonesia. Today his status was forced to change by Mr. Rio (Rionald Silaban) who is the richest person in Indonesia,” said Sri Mulyani when giving a speech at Rio’s inauguration as Director General of State Assets last March.
