Rio Negro Fishing Families Face Economic Crisis: 500 Families Impacted

Carlos Lueze and Enrique Dowbley painted a worrying picture for the Rio Negro fishing family, “We are facing a very difficult scenario for the San Antonio economy, there are 500 families that depend on fishing” they mentioned.

“Eight months without working and no money coming in, logically it is worrying, you realize that commercial activity is not moving in the town, and you talk to business owners and they tell you exactly this, the drop in sales” that fully impacts the global economy of the town on the Río Negro coast.

Dowbley claimed that “Today, it is not only the lack of resources after there are neither prawns nor hake, because we have a very serious economic scenario, everything depends on the dollar, inputs, engines, everything is in dollar price, but not the official one, but the informal” projection.

“Nor do we have a fishing policy that we have benefits for the purchase of materials, inputs, not even in the existing crisis, at least this must be contemplated, which is what we ask through a note that we present” they highlighted.

“We do not see alternatives, we are in a bottleneck, without income because obviously there are no resources, we also hope that they will tell us how the inspection report carried out by INIDEP was, but we are also waiting for them to notify us in what was presented on our part for a subsidy that props us up in these coming months” They stood out in dialogue with the Informativo Hoy site.
