The corona figures in Brazil are rising rapidly and so the measures are being tightened. Cities implement curfews and sometimes go into full lockdown. And now the beaches of the capital Rio De Janeiro are also being closed, mayor Eduardo Paes know.

“The progress of the pandemic puts us in a difficult position,” said the mayor. “We have to be aware of this and respect life, otherwise we will experience an uncontrollable situation in the coming days.”
Records broken to records
Corona records are broken almost daily in Brazil. In the country of more than 210 million inhabitants, up to 3,000 people die every day from the effects of the corona virus. Last week, tens of thousands of corona infections were registered every day. Hospitals can no longer cope with the large numbers of patients.
According to a poll, nearly four in five Brazilians think the pandemic has gotten out of hand. Only in the United States has the virus claimed more lives.
