According to the city hall, 92% of people above this age took the first application. But the start of the calendar for teenagers, scheduled for Monday, is still marked by uncertainty.
The state received a new shipment of 308,000 doses of AstraZeneca this Friday morning, but only for the application of the second dose.
With this, the stations open this Saturday only for the application of the second dose against Covid-19, scheduled for the date. The first dose is restricted to the remnants of the public over the age of 30, people with disabilities, pregnant women, postpartum women and breastfeeding women.
Due to the adjustment in the calendar, due to the lack of vaccines, the stations in the capital will only open until noon, this Saturday, according to the municipal Health Department. The agency reiterated the importance of the Ministry of Health not delaying with the distribution doses, so that the calendars of the municipalities are not compromised.
This Friday morning, the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, expressed concern about the advance of the Delta variant of the coronavirus, which is more transmissible, during the release of the city’s 33rd epidemiological bulletin. While the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 continues to rise, the Municipal Health Department (SMS) has already concluded, through a sampling survey by Genomic Surveillance, that the new strain corresponds to 53.7% of the occurrences of the disease. in the municipality. The strain has already caused at least four deaths in Rio.
— We have a peak of cases in Rio de Janeiro in 2021. We have never had such a large number of people with Covid this year as now. We all realize this. I have personally never seen so many people with Covid around me. This is very worrying. We have the Delta variant, which already represents more than half of the cases in the city,” said Paes.
