WASHINGTON DC (RIAUPOS.CO) – The Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse is scheduled to appear on Saturday, October 14 2023, but unfortunately, this phenomenon cannot be seen in the Indonesian sky.
However, the United States Space Agency (NASA) will provide a live broadcast of this event via various platforms, including their website, Twitter account, Facebook, YouTube, and the official NASA app.

This eclipse itself will occur in the United States on October 14 at 09.13 am local time or 23.13 WIB Indonesian time, with a duration of around 5 minutes 17 seconds. According to information provided by NASA, this Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse can be observed directly in North America, Central America and most of South America.
However, it should be emphasized that the ring of fire in this solar eclipse phenomenon can only be seen in areas located within a corridor 118-137 miles wide or around 190-220 km. The path of this eclipse will cross the western region of the United States, then towards Mexico, Central America and several regions in South America.

The Ring of Fire solar eclipse phenomenon will cause a decrease in the intensity of light in the sky in eight US states, namely Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.
The Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse occurs when the new moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun, with its shadow reaching the Earth’s surface. It should be noted that the Moon’s path around the Earth has an elliptical shape.

As a result, at two different points during the Moon’s orbit, namely when the Moon is at its furthest (apogee) and closest (perigee) with Earth, the size of the Moon will appear slightly smaller and larger in the sky.
A Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse occurs when the Moon appears relatively smaller in the sky and cannot completely cover the Sun, creating a thin outer ring known as ring of fire or ring of fire.

Whether the eclipse causes a complete obscuration of the Sun depends on the Moon’s distance from Earth. In this event, the Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse will not produce a completely dark sky as occurred during the total solar eclipse on August 21 2017.
To observe a solar eclipse, it is important to always use a solar filter. Whether it is a partial solar eclipse or a Ring of Fire solar eclipse, both have the same potential danger to the eyes. The Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse looks like a partial solar eclipse, with about 91% of the Sun’s disk covered by the new Moon.
To see it, be sure to wear solar eclipse glasses, and use a camera, telescope and binoculars equipped with a solar filter in front of the lens if you have the opportunity to observe directly. The next annular solar eclipse phenomenon is scheduled to occur on October 2 2024, and will be visible in the Pacific Ocean, southern Chile and southern Argentina.
On Saturday, October 14 2023, the Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse will be an interesting celestial phenomenon, although unfortunately it cannot be seen in Indonesian skies. Despite geographical limitations, the United States Space Agency (NASA) will give everyone around the world the opportunity to watch it through a live broadcast that can be accessed via various online platforms.
The Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse reminds us of the beauty of the universe and the complexity of the relationship between the Earth, Moon and Sun. Remember that to view a solar eclipse, eye safety is a priority. The use of solar eclipse glasses and optical instruments equipped with solar filters is mandatory for those who want to observe this rare natural phenomenon. Let us continue to explore and honor the wonders of the universe that inspire us.
