Rimi Latvia’s announcement about the sale of Alfas has come as a novelty

For the retailer SIA “Rimi Latvia”, the announcement about the change of owners of the shopping center “Alfa” came as a novelty, in an interview to the agency LETA admitted the chairman of the board of “Rimi Latvia” Valdis Turlais.

It has already been reported that the shopping center “Alfa” was purchased by the company “Akropolis Group” of the Lithuanian holding “Vilniaus prekyba”. The “Vilniaus prekyba” group also includes the network of retail companies “Maxima grupe”.

“We were probably not the only ones for whom this change of ownership was great news. But we have valid agreements that ensure relations with the owners of the building for several years,” said Turlais.

According to him, the current agreement determines Rimi’s right to lease until 2034.

Turlais admitted that “Rimi Latvia” talks with the new “Alfas” owners have not taken place. “Currently, the transaction is being evaluated by the Competition Council, and we have not planned any negotiations in the meantime,” said Turlais.

LETA has already reported that Akropolis Group announced in early August that it had signed an agreement with the Norwegian company AMD Holding for the acquisition of 100% of shares in its Latvian subsidiary Delta Property. The company “Delta Property” owns a 9.7 hectare plot of land and a building at 372 Brivibas Street, where the shopping center “Alfa” is located.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the proposed transaction, which will be completed after the approval of KP.

The total area of the Alfa shopping center is approximately 154,000 square meters, including 71,000 square meters of leasable shopping space, and 1,750 cars can be parked in the parking lots at the same time. There are 210 stores in the shopping center. “Alfa” has such stores as “Zara”, “Reserved”, “H&M”, “Euronics”, “Sportland”, “Kidzone”, “Cenuklubs.lv”, “Cinamon”, “Lido”, “McDonalds”, as well as other shops and service locations. There is also a Rimi supermarket in the mall.

“Akropolis Group” in Latvia also owns the shopping center “Akropole”. Maxima supermarkets are usually located in the shopping centers belonging to the group.

LETA has already reported that 1.9 million euros have been invested in the reconstruction of the Rimi Latvia store in the Alfa shopping center.

Last year, Rimi Latvia had a turnover of 946.508 million euros, which is 3.2% more than a year earlier, but the company’s profit decreased by 8.3% to 30.409 million euros.

The company “Rimi Latvia” was registered in January 1992, and its share capital is five million euros. The sole owner of the company is Rimi Baltic, a company registered in Sweden.
