Sunday was an emotional day at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. Friends and family gathered to pay their respects to Lisa Marie Presleythe daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, who died suddenly earlier this month at the age of 54. But during the service, Ben Smith-Petersen revealed that he and his wife, Lisa Marie’s daughter, Riley Keoughhad just welcomed a little girl.
Ben Smith-Peterson read a letter written by the 33-year-old star of Logan Lucky et The Terminal List, which read in part: “Thank you for showing me that love is the only thing that matters in this life. I hope I can love my daughter like you loved me, like you loved my brother and my sisters. The couple’s agents confirmed to Page Six that they had, in fact, welcomed a girl, without giving more details.
Ben Smith-Petersen is an Australian stuntman, and he and Riley Keough met on the set of Mad Max : Fury Road in 2012. He played the “Doof Warrior,” the character who belched powerful electric guitar chords while shooting fire from the fretboard as Immortan Joe’s War Boys charged into battle. The two have been married since 2015, and this is their first child, and also Priscilla’s first great-grandchild.
Musical performances during the memorial
Lisa Marie’s last public appearance was just two days before her disappearance, during the Golden Globes. She appeared on the red carpet with Austin Butler, the star of the biopic of Baz Luhrmann, Elvis, which was nominated in the Best Drama Film category. Austin Butler, who won Best Dramatic Actor, thanked the entire Presley family for “opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I will always love you. »
Along with news from Riley Keogh and Ben Smith-Peterson, the Lisa Marie Presley memorial saw tributes from Sarah Fergusonthe Duchess of York, who read a poem, and the musical performances ofAlanis Morrissette, Axl Rose et Billy Corgan Smashing Pumpkins. Lisa Marie’s body will rest in Graceland alongside that of her son, Benjamin Keoughdied in 2020.
