The Miss Netherlands jury says that Kollé beamed during the entire show. According to them, she made the most progress of all the misses. The participants of Miss Nederland have completed a training program in which they went to Curaçao, among other places. “She has a strong story with a clear mission,” said the jury during the final. “The jury is convinced that the organization (of Miss Nederland, ed.) will enjoy working with this young woman.”
“With my participation in Miss Netherlands 2023, I want to be a role model for all young women and queer people,” Kollé said on the website of the beauty pageant. “I know better than anyone what it’s like to feel alone. When I was little Rik and came out as transgender, it wasn’t easy for everyone. I also suffered from it.”
Today, the brand new Miss Netherlands is stronger than ever before. “As long as you remain who you are, there is no one who can stand above you. I am more than happy to commit myself to all little Rikkies who face rejection from their families as they transition into the person they desire to be.”
Rikkie Kolle will carry the title of Miss Netherlands for a year. She will also represent her country at the Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador. There she is the second trans participant.
Kolle is not an unknown face. The Dutch already participated in the television program ‘Holland’s Next Top Model’ in 2018. She eventually reached the final. She was the second trans woman to join the program. In 2015, Loiza Lamers won the program. Also in our country, a trans woman, 25-year-old Lennie Blockmans, competes for the crown of Miss Belgium.
