Guitarist and music author Rihards Lībietis’ first single “Through the Parallels” from the upcoming new album “Lines and Miniatures” at the end of October has been released. Along with the single, a video was published, the director and author of which is Jānis Romanovskis.
The director of the video, Jānis Romanovskis: “Rihards sent me a music recording and gave me a lot of free ideas for filming. After listening to the composition countless times, this clip came – a little about haste, a little about getting lost in the labyrinths. We filmed using the “timelapse” function, which is usually seen in gorgeous nature videos, but this time allowed to play with time, compressing long episodes of filming in a few seconds. “
The composition “Through Parallels” tells about overcoming the existing boundaries – breaking the external barriers imposed by the environment, as well as internal barriers created by man himself, as a result of which he reached a new level, a much higher value and better version of himself. Drummer Toms Kagainis also took part in the recording, who not only played the drum party, but also created various sounds created with various household items, such as a set of kitchen utensils, knives, a metal bottle filled with water, etc., which only inspired the flight during the recording. have been available in the studio.
Rihards Lībietis’ album “Lines and Miniatures” with ten compositions will be released on October 26. This will be Richard’s second solo album of original music, which is ideologically similar to the musician’s first album “RL Elektronix”, released in 2015. “The original idea was to create an album just for solo guitar, using different techniques and guitar playing techniques. As the album material became more revealed, it became clear that this music required a broader approach and complementing it with other instruments and layers. “Draw Parallels” was the first piece to emerge in the writing process, and audible guitar parts can still be played using just one guitar and a loop machine. Of course, the sound has been raised to a completely different level by Toms Kagainis with a very creative contribution from the world of percussion instruments, and Valērijs Černejs with inspiration to give in to the possibilities of studio experiments, ”says Rihards Lībietis.
