Pop star and world icon Rihanna was honored by Prime Minister Mia Mottley at an event marking Barbados’ new status as a republic. The Barbadian artist and businesswoman was previously appointed the nation’s ambassador in 2018.
“On behalf of a grateful nation, but an even more proud people, we therefore present to you the representative of the national hero of Barbados, Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty. May you continue to shine like a diamond and honor your nation by your word, by your actions, ”the Prime Minister said at the event.
Rihanna can add the title to a growing list of accolades. Rihanna has also officially entered the billionaire club in August, according to a Forbes report.
The famous publication estimated that the pop star and business mogul – founder of the fashion house Fenty as well as the make-up line Fenty Beauty – is now worth $ 1.7 billion, making her the most richest in the world and the second richest female artist in the world after Oprah Winfrey. An estimated $ 1.4 billion of this fortune comes exclusively from Fenty Beauty, in which Rihanna has a 50% stake. Much of the rest of her net worth – around $ 270 million – comes from sales from her music and acting career as well as her stake in her lingerie line, Savage x Fenty.
Forbes attributes the success of Fenty Beauty not only to its famous founder, but also to its unique and diverse product line, with foundation available in 50 different skin tones for women of color. A 50-50 joint venture with French luxury conglomerate LVMH, which also owns makeup retailer Sephora, Fenty Beauty is said to have racked up $ 550 million in its first calendar year in 2018, beating other celebrity lines like Kylie. Cosmetics by Kylie Jenner and KKW by Kim Kardashian West Beauty. Cosmetics sales have rebounded from their pandemic lows and are only expected to rise in the coming year.
