Kylian Mbappé is the topic of conversation ahead of tonight’s Champions League quarter-final between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain at the Santiago Bernabéu in the Spanish capital.
The Frenchman, who decided with his 1-0 goal for PSG in extra time in the home meeting, has himself said that he wanted to leave for Real Madrid this summer. It ended, as is well known, with Mbappé remaining, but there is much to suggest that he will instead make the move when his contract with PSG expires this summer.
Tonight, Mbappé is in PSG’s starting eleven. After a bang on Monday’s training, it was uncertain for a while if he would come into play, but he does. Mbappé forms an attacking trio with the other superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar.
At Real Madrid, who have Ferland Mendy and Casemiro suspended, Marco Asensio starts together with Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr. at the top.
It is worth remembering that the away goal rule has been abolished in the Champions League. An odd goal victory for Real Madrid after regular time thus takes tonight’s match to extra time.
