Rigans are offered telephone support in emotionally difficult times – in Latvia – News

According to the Welfare Department of the Riga City Council, the implemented social distancing and epidemiological security measures have a significant impact on the existing ways of communication and mutual communication. For a section of society, these changes can lead to greater difficulties and worsening of psycho-emotional health.

Telephone calls are answered by volunteer seniors, who not only provide practical information about the working hours of Riga municipal institutions or the telephone numbers of these institutions on a daily basis, but often have significant emotional support when the senior has nothing to talk to. In addition, seniors are offered the opportunity to call back so that seniors do not have to spend their money on the call.
