This week, the Latvian Music Development Association/Latvijas Mūzikas export gathered together 30 songwriters, performers and producers to give them the opportunity to create new songs and collaborations in a creative atmosphere.
On the first day of the camp, the participants took part in educational master classes on issues related to intellectual property, while on the second and third days they already worked on creating new songs, which were presented in the evening of each day not only to other participants, but also to industry experts who evaluated the potential of each song.
In total, 25 new songs in various music genres were created during the ninth session of the “RigaLive” camp. In addition, this year’s participants included musicians from eight countries – Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Great Britain and Slovenia.
“This camp has been like a creative charge that has opened up new perspectives, as well as provided an opportunity to collaborate with talented musicians from other countries. “RigaLive” is a place where new collaborations and opportunities are created, and I am happy to be a part of this wonderful experience,” said singer Marta Grigale, looking back on her participation in the songwriting camp.
“Our goal was to create an international, exciting platform for music creation and artist development – we have achieved it. Cooperation with Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Music High School allows us to involve the young generation, share industry knowledge and promote the acquisition of necessary skills. Thanks to the team, students and principal of this high school, Ainars Šablovskis, for their cooperation and support!” it’s Agnese Cimuška-Rekke, Executive Director of Latvian Music Development Association/Latvijas Mūzikas Exports.
