Riga streets will be cleaned of sand and dust – Road and law – Car

It is planned to clean all the main streets and bridges in the capital, as well as to clean up public transport stops and clean rainwater receivers.

The roadways will then be cleaned three to five times a week.

Street cleaning will be partly mechanized, as in some places the cleaning of carriageway edges must be done with shovels. Dust collection with vacuum equipment or so-called “wet cleaning” will start after sand removal. Dirt and sand will be taken to official landfills.

Street keepers are instructed to carry out the work in such a way that the flow of traffic is not disturbed as much as possible, for example, cleaning works on the main streets are basically not organized in the morning and afternoon. Works will also be organized during the night hours. Informative posters and road signs warning of temporary stopping and parking bans may also be installed for street cleaning.

The treatment of gravel streets is planned to start in May, when the pavements of these carriageways will be completely dry, however, in case of favorable weather conditions, these works can be planned earlier.
