On February 9 of this year, winter graduations were held in the hall of Riga Stradiņš University (RSU), where 313 graduates of bachelor’s and master’s study programs from seven faculties received diplomas. Relatives, friends and other supporters had the opportunity to follow graduations not only in person, but also live on the RSU website.
“The diploma of Riga Stradiņa University is a sign of quality, which is confirmed both by the scientific achievements already during the studies and by the high employment rates among our graduates.
I am really glad that more than 300 undergraduate and master’s graduates will start their professional careers this winter. Among them are young police officers and lawyers, as well as psychologists, health sports and nutrition specialists, social anthropologists, art therapists and masters of business management, as well as foreign students in the fields of medicine and dentistry,” emphasized RSU Rector Aigars Pētersons.
Winter graduation day at At 11.00, the foreign students of the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Dentistry started. Among the graduates were 123 young doctors and 16 dentists, who were welcomed by RSU Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons and the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Health, Artjoms Uršulskis. Since 2019, the number of foreign students at RSU has increased by 30% and is approaching three thousand. The largest number of foreign students are from Sweden, Germany, Finland, Norway and Italy.
In continuation at Graduation at 15.00 was for graduates of the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Communication, Faculty of European Studies, Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare, and Faculty of Rehabilitation.
Among the graduates of the Faculty of Law were 23 students of the Bachelor of Law program and 15 of the Master’s program, and 34 programs Police work Graduates. The young specialists were addressed by the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Igors Rajevs.
Among the graduates of the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare were 37 health sports specialists, nine social workers, eight health psychologists and four supervisors. Six social anthropologists graduated from the Faculty of Communication. Eight graduated from the Faculty of European Studies International Marketing and Business Management masters, while the Faculty of Rehabilitation – 11 nutrition science specialists and 16 art therapy masters.
This is the last year when students graduated from the mentioned faculties. As of February 6, as part of the consolidation of RSU, five faculties have been created instead of nine – the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health and Sports Sciences, as well as the Faculty of Social Sciences.
RSU Rector Aigars Pētersons, Vice-Rector of Health Studies Guntis Bahs, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Dins Šmits, deans of faculties, program directors, lecturers, students and other guests took part in the graduations.
