In December, two musicians will perform on the stage of the “Tower” night club in Riga, whose style of music is classified as hip-hop, although this genre is not very popular in their home countries. Although – rap is now popular everywhere.
On December 8, the night club “Tower” will host a big concert by rappers Jakone and AVG.
The first one after the passport is Valiko Gareginovich Aleksanyan, and his stage colleague is Aram “Yakone” Baitalov. The roots of both musicians can be found in Armenia. Both have previously had successful solo works, but in 2022 the rappers joined forces and released the compositions “Pau Pau” and “Platina”, with which they ranked first in many charts – of course, in Eastern European countries. In 2023, AVG released the video “If I Cry”, which collected more than 35 million views on YouTube in three months, while this year Jakone released a new romantic song in collaboration with the singer Scirena – its name is “Po vesne” («По весне »), but the number of views on YouTube is more than 30 million. As Jakone himself says: “Our music is our personal genre, which is a synthesis of several musical styles – “new school”, “old school” and “drill” styles.”
On December 16, popular Georgian rapper Gio Pika will perform at Tower. Giorgi Dzhioev or Gio Pika was born in Tbilisi, but he is an Ossetian by nationality. The singer’s style is often called by the completely unheard (and unusual) name “rapchanson”. In addition, many of the artist’s compositions have a criminal character. For example, in 2014, Gio Pika recorded the song “Fontanchik s delfinom”, which tells about the colony sentenced to life. Later, a clip of this song was released, which was filmed next to the prison, and it has collected more than 35 million views on the Internet site “YouTube”. During his career, Georgi has released six studio albums and one EP, but he is currently preparing new sound material. Riga will be his only concert in the Baltic States, showing both his best songs and brand new material.
