Riga International Short Film Festival “2Annas” will be opened with a live broadcast from the cinema “Splendid Palace”
Riga, April 8, LETA. The opening event of the Riga International Short Film Festival “2Anna” “The Hidden World of Plants” will take place on April 9 at 8 pm from the small hall of the cinema “Splendid Palace”, where you can watch both the performance and concert of the artist Sabine Moore or “The Waterflower” Delicate Bodies: F. Persia Smith ‘s Hidden World “show.
As Agnese Krastkalne, the representative of the festival organizers, informed LETA, Moore’s performance center will have mushrooms grown especially for the opening event – by connecting electrodes to them, the mushrooms will create sound, as well as mix video. “The Waterfower” is the artist’s audiovisual project, known for her experimental music and art house music videos.
Krastkalne pointed out that Moore’s concerts are multimedia performances rich in soundscapes, created by the artist’s characteristic vocals, synthesizers and digital sampling. The album “Balta Gaisma” received two nominations for the annual music award “Golden Microphone 2021”, in the categories “Best Alternative or Experimental Music Album” and “Best Album Design”, as well as Moore is known for his professional work in videography, working on full-length animated films “Sun drove to heaven “and” My Marriage Project. “
The event will continue with a screening of the 2016 film “Delicate Bodies: F. Persia Smith’s Hidden World”. According to the festival’s organizers, at the beginning of the 20th century, in his North London studio, Smith created time acceleration, animation and micro-cinematic techniques to capture the secrets of nature in motion. The film combines Smith’s original footage with a contemporary soundtrack created by Tindersticks in collaboration with Thomas Belhom and Christine Otto. Laima Graždanoviča, the program director, and Krastkalne, the producer, will give an introduction at the opening of the festival.
The festival “2Annas” will take place online this year, and the films will be available for free on the festival’s website. You can already see the full list of films in the competition.
