The pearls of Latvian choral music, the Riga Chamber Choir, will be heard at the concert Ave Sol the golden repertoire and musical masterpieces performed by the chamber choir since its inception. Some of the brightest and most saturated compositions that will be heard at the concert – the vocalizations of the dreamy graphic designer Jānis Ivanovs “Gubu ogundi” (1970) and “Jūsma” (1982). Alongside them, a part of Pēter Plakids’ famous choral symphony “Destiny” (1985), written specifically for the Riga Chamber Choir Ave Sol. Plakid’s choral music will be complemented by readings by the owner of the clear voice Aleksandra Spitzberga.
Riga Chamber Choir Ave Sol the performance will also include the masterpiece for choir and cello by Jēkab Jančevski, the beauty seeker of the new generation When with Shakespeare’s poetry (2016) and “Meditation for Light” for violin and piano (2020). The chamber choir sang Pēter Vaska’s “Līdzenum ainavas” composed at the turn of the century for choir, violin and cello, but everything will be crowned by his vision “Fruit of Silence” with the text of Mother Teresa, written as a testimony to the vitality of eternal love.
The Riga Chamber Choir is performing at the conductor’s desk Ave Sol conductor Jurģis Cābulis, who made his debut on the Mežaparka stage this summer in honor of the vVirsconductor, but the charming pianist Agnese Egliņa, one of Latvia’s leading violinists Marta Spārniņa, the inimitable cellist Āriks Kiršfelds and the soloist of the Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol” Aleksandra Špitsberga will perform as soloists.
In an interview with Inta Pīrāga, Jurģis Cābulis justifies the poetic title of the program, tells more about the chosen choral works and his previous connection with them. During the conversation, the conductor does not hide his desire to expand the choir’s score and his interest in supplementing it with instruments, he talks about the patriotic mood this fall, which Ave Sol will continue with concerts on Lāčplēš day and November 18, as well as about the choir’s “Kamēr…” tour to the USA, which will also pass in the sign of the Latvian holiday.
