Riga Autumn Latvian Autumn / Day

The festival will be attended by the Latvian Radio Choir and conductor Jānis Liepiņš, as well as outstanding Latvian artists – percussionists Elīna Endzele and Ernests Mediņš, violinist Marta Spārniņa, saxophonist Baiba Tilhena, guitarist Armands Alksnis, as well as Grand Music Prize laureates Raumanis. As always, several premieres are expected – new works by Georg Pelēčs, Rihards Dubras, Andris Vecumnieks, Arturs Maskats and Edgars Cīrulis. All concerts will also be shown on screens in the church hall, giving the opportunity to watch what is happening on the balcony.

Latvian autumn – they are outstanding Latvian musicians, Latvian music from classics to contemporaries and an opportunity to talk about topics relevant to Latvia. Opening concert Meditations for Our Lady (October 9) focuses on a cycle of the same name by Latvian composer Renāte Stivriņa for soprano, saxophone and organ, which has not yet been played in Riga. It will be interpreted by soprano Ilze Grēvele-Skaraine and saxophonist Baiba Tilhena together with organist Larisa Carjkova. The program also includes Andris Vecumnieks’ new work Ave Maria world premiere and Richard Dubra’s organ poop The divine rose.

In the program Tree of life On October 11, percussionist Elīna Endzele, chamber orchestra will meet Sinfonietta Riga the first violin by Marta Spārniņa and the Riga Dome organist Aigars Reinis.
