“Riga” 3×3 basketball players win the first match of the World Tour finals

4th seeded “Riga” defeated the Dutch team “Utrecht” (12th) with a score of 21:16 in the first match of subgroup D.

At 18.45 there will be a match with the 3×3 basketball players of “Amsterdam” (5th). The finals are broadcast live on the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) YouTube channel.

The Latvians had an intense battle with the Amsterdam team in the semifinals of the “Masters” tournament in Cebu held in early October, in which “Riga” won 21:18. On the other hand, the Utrecht team was defeated 21:6 in the sub-group of the Riyadh “Masters” competition a month ago.

At the end of November, the Latvian quartet lost in the quarterfinals of the “Masters” tournament in Hong Kong, not continuing the streak in which they had a 27 match win streak.

The winners of the first two places in the subgroups will advance to the elimination tournament, which will take place on Sunday. The winners will receive a cash prize of $60,000.

Last season, at the final stage held in Jeddah, “Riga” stopped in the quarterfinals, but the 3×3 basketball players “Liman” became the champions. A year earlier, the Latvians had become the winners of the final stage of the World Tour right there in Jeddah.

“Riga”, playing all four Olympic champions, won the “Masters” tournaments in Montreal, Cebu and Riyadh in the fall, as well as the “Challenger” competition in the Republic of South Africa and the “Super Quest” tournament in Arabia Saudi .

In the summer, when Lasmanis played in the US “Big 3” professional streetball league and Krūminņš was nursing an injury, the team played in different lineups.
