Leo Torres created an impressive video showing Riften, one of the cities Skyrim – in its true scale, created on Unreal Engine 5. The video gives an idea of what a modern remake would look like Skyrim. Of course, it’s unlikely that Bethesda will give up their Creation Engine, but you can dream.
For this project, the artist used a combination of third-party models and his own assets, created in Blender and textured in Mixer. The work used Nanite technology for all models and vegetation, as well as Lumen for global illumination and shadows.
For those who don’t know, the Real Scale Skyrim project aims to show what the cities of Tamriel would look like if they were more realistic and true to the game’s lore. Torres also reinvented Markart, Black Border, Solomon, Winter and others.
It is worth noting that this video does not show real-time graphics. Instead, they were rendered on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card, which makes it doubtful that this would be possible to see in a real game. However, with some optimizations, it can be assumed that the graphics quality could approach this level.
Do you think The Elder Scrolls VI can match those graphics? Probably not, judging by Starfield and the “major cities.”
