Riestra took the three points against Lanús and continues to climb in the Professional League

At the Guillermo Laza Stadium, Ricardo Zielinski’s team fell 3-1 to Ogro Fabbiani’s team on matchday 10 of the Professional League.

Deportivo Riestra and Lanús met on matchday 10 of the 2024 Professional League and the home team took home three golden points. El Granate, who had just beaten Tigre at La Fortaleza, suffered a tough defeat that maintains their bad streak as visitors. Ogro Fabbiani’s men continue to add to the standings.

Right from the start of the match, Riestra had the first clear chance of the encounter: after a cross into the area, Gonzalo Bravo headed in a header, unmarked, and Losada was present. With the courage to go out and look for the match, Walter Bou balanced things out and forced the home goalkeeper to give the first corner kick, one of the few, to the visitors.

With only 21 minutes played, Abel Luciatti was sent off, leaving Granate with ten men for the rest of the match. After a controversial play with the ball divided, the defender was exposed and sent off, forcing the team to readjust to the numerical inferiority.

Deportivo Riestra vs. Lanús: Losada’s save

Nahuel Losada’s obligation between the posts was key to keeping the score at zero until the first half. The lack of intelligence in the midfield and in the visiting defence allowed Cristian Fabbiani’s team to attack freely and, at that time, gave way to great performances by the ex-Belgrano player who, in fact, blocked a great shot and a rebound in the same play.

The resistance ended in the second half. Three minutes into the game, Anthony Alonso appeared to start the road to victory. After a great collective play, the goalkeeper could not hold on to the ball and the forward took advantage of the chance. Now, Lanús felt the blow and had a hard time recovering to be able to create an attack.

With a couple more saves under the goalposts for Losada, the inevitable second goal for the Malevos arrived. This time, under the sole of Alexander Díaz at 31 minutes, who received the ball in the middle, was one-on-one and, despite Losada’s exit, he finished to extend the lead.

However, Jonathan Torres’ goal in the 35th minute lifted the game at the Guillermo Laza and, at times, the pitch was leaning towards the visitors’ equaliser. However, despite the Granate goalkeeper’s temporary rest, Marcelino Moreno’s loss in midfield left the ball open for Jonathan Herrera to take and score the final 3-1 in the last minute.

Beyond the negative result, Granate was left with the star of the match: Nahuel Losada. Although the result is misleading, the goalkeeper saved Ricardo Zielinski’s team on more than one occasion and, beyond the scorers, he deserved to be named the most outstanding player of the match.
