Nuisance. For many he is an acting legend and the “Winnetou of the Orient”: Gojko Mitić. The German-Serb will soon be visiting Riesa: On Wednesday, January 18, the 82-year-old will come to Riesa with author Eberhardt Görner. Together they present Görner’s novel “In God’s Own Country. Heinrich Melchior Mühlenberg – the father of American Lutheranism” at the Riesa cinema.
In the book the author recounts the dramatic life of the theologian Heinrich Melchior Mühlenberg, sent from Halle an der Saale as a preacher to British North America in 1742. “Ignorance, selfishness, power struggles between religious sects, deprivation, lack of money, wars and His checkered relationship with Delaware chief Flying Arrow have tested his faith,” reads an ad.
