Ridwan Kamil’s Son Is Missing, Swiss Police Reveals 2 Reasons for Difficult Searches in the Aare River

SCHONAU STEG, KOMPAS.comPolice in Bern, Switzerland, reveal two reasons why the search was so difficult Ridwan Kamil’s son, Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz or Eril (23), who disappeared in the Aare River.

Eril son of Ridwan Kamil lost in the swift current of the Aare River when it was about to rise to the surface on Thursday (26/5/2022). Until this news was uploaded he had not been found.

When contacted by Krisna Diantha Akassa, a contributor Kompas.com In Switzerland on Friday (27/5/2022), Bern Police Public Relations Officer Patrick Jean explained that there are two reasons why it is difficult to find people missing or drowned in the Aare River, the longest river in Switzerland.

First, the waters of the Aare River are now cloudy due to melting snow. That’s why the search for six hours since Ridwan Kamil’s son is missing has not come to fruition.

Second, the quest can only be done with boat (boat) and on foot because there are many trees around the Aare River, so it is not possible to use a helicopter.

The Bern police received a report that a missing person was swept away by the current in the Aare River on Thursday (26/5/2022) at around 9.45 am.

Exact location Eril is missing is in the center of the town of Schonau Steg, province of Bern, Switzerland.

Patrick Jean confirmed that there were three tourists from Indonesia who swam in the Aare River, namely two women and one man.

It was the latter man who was later reported missing, but the Bern police were reluctant to reveal his identity or status as the son of the governor of West Java, Indonesia, because it was not within their jurisdiction.

According to Krisna Diantha’s observations during her stay in Switzerland, before June usually no one swims in the Aare River because it is not yet in season.

In addition, the water is still cold and cloudy due to melting snow and the strong current is another reason.

“On average, foreigners or tourists drown because they don’t know,” said Krisna, adding that the average time for finding someone who was lost in the current was a week.

The search for Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz will continue on Friday (27/5/2022) indefinitely, Patrick Jean added.

Ridwan Kamil’s family is abroad. The governor of West Java is currently on an official trip in England with a delegation from the West Java Provincial Government.

Meanwhile, Ridwan Kamil’s wife and two children are in Switzerland looking for a master’s degree school for Eril.
