In an interview with Total Film, Scott revealed that the extended cut of the film coming to Apple TV+ will be over four hours long, despite efforts to cut it down.

I’m working on it. This morning it lasted 4 hours 10 minutes. And what’s going to happen is we’re going to show the theatrical cut at Sony first, then it’s going to be released in theaters, and then ideally the director’s cut goes to streaming and we’re going to have four hours and 10 minutes.

Scott has long planned to sell an extended version of the film for Apple TV+, and now it looks like he has achieved his goal.

The film “Napoleon” tells the story of the legendary French figure’s rise to power, starring Joaquin Phoenix. The film also stars Vanessa Kirby as Josephine, Tahar Rahim, Ben Miles, Ludivine Sagnier and Rupert Everett.

According to Empire, the four-hour version of the film will chronicle Josephine’s life before her meeting with Napoleon.

Scott revealed yesterday that he chose Phoenix in part because of his role in the film Joker.
