With Jeroen Zoet, Lars Unnerstall, Hidde Jurjus and Robbin Ruiter, the new PSV coach Roger Schmidt has plenty to choose next season. Ruiter does not seem satisfied with a place as third keeper and is linked to Willem II and sc Heerenveen.
That knows Football International. Schmidt wants to have a goalkeeper who plays well with his ‘full throttle ball’. Although Ruiter can provide the best figures of the four goalkeepers in Eindhoven in that area, it seems impossible that he will become the first keeper in the Philips Stadium next season.
Ruiter wants to keep matches next season and the 33-year-old goalkeeper, whose contract expires in 2021, hopes to be able to enforce a starting place elsewhere. Willem II and Heerenveen are still looking for a goalkeeper for the season and are listed as real contenders.
Ruiter was not pleased with the developments at PSV last season, when Unnerstall replaced Zoet as first goalkeeper. The club had portrayed him as the second keeper behind Zoet, but that was not the case. There was some uncertainty about this at PSV, as Unnerstall also thought to be the second goalkeeper in Eindhoven.
