Chicago (USA), December 31 (EFE).- Spaniard Ricky Rubio trained for more than half an hour this Saturday on the track of the United Center ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ game against the Bulls and sees his return to Chicago approaching the competition more than a year after his cruciate injury.
Rubio is stepping up the pace of his training and assured, in a conversation with EFE at the United Center, that his comeback “is near”.
If all goes as planned, he should be back on track in early January, Cavaliers coach JB Bickerstaff recently reported.
It was December 28, 2021 when Ricky Rubio, in the final stretch of the fourth period of a Cavaliers game against the New Orleans Pelicans, suffered a sprained left knee that caused him to tear his cruciate ligament.
At 32, Rubio has begun a long recovery process and is already starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
El Masnou’s point guard is part of one of the most spectacular teams this season, the Cavaliers who are fourth in the Eastern Conference (22-13) and who have a very competitive and complete squad.
Donovan Mitchell, arrived from the Utah Jazz, did not take long to adapt to the new team and leads a group in which the talent of Darius Garland shines, with whom Rubio would alternate on his return, and in which Evan Mobley and Jarret Allen boast of power in the paint.
