At a time when a large number of protesters are in La Fortaleza to demand the departure of Governor Wanda Vázquez, Puerto Rican artist Ricky Martin announced that he is en route to the Island to join the claim against the government’s response to the emergency for recent earthquakes.
“I’m with you. Feeling the pain and firm in defending what corresponds, what is worthy for all. I’m on my way to Puerto Rico. Very soon I will accompany you again in this claim of respect, justice and peace. There I see them, my island ”, shared the Puerto Rican in his Instagram account.

In the publication, he described the finding of supplies in a warehouse in Ponce – while thousands of Puerto Ricans pass need in the southwest of the Island – as an “act of insensitivity, abuse and irresponsible irresponsibility.”
“In the moments of greatest need of our people, those who assume they are the leaders have failed again,” he denounced. “The most basic rights of human beings have again been lacking: water, roof, education, security… They did it with evil. There is no other explanation. ”
“Between so much indignation and for everyone’s comfort, I see people, ours, awake, attentive and above all, standing. Fighting, defending, caring for, protecting and giving love throughout this treasure that is our Puerto Rico, ”he said.
The Puerto Rican singer was one of many who joined the demonstrations last summer, in which hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans demanded the departure of then Governor Ricardo Rosselló Nevares. Other artists who demonstrated at that time were Resident, Ednita Nazario, Kany García, Karla Monroig and Bad Bunny.

Two days after finding supplies in a warehouse owned by the Emergency Management and Disaster Management Bureau (Nmead) in Ponce, dozens began arriving in La Fortaleza from morning hours to demand the resignation of the first executive.
After tense moments for the arrival of the Police Tactical Operations Unit to the place – to whom the governor ordered his retirement -, the protesters went to the Capitol to take their claim to the legislators, then return to Fortaleza Street, baptized as the Resistance Street after the manifestations of the Summer of ’19.
