The accident took place on Wednesday morning when the Dutch defender was on his way to training.
Rick van Drongelen was involved in a fatal road accident on Wednesday morning. While the Dutch defender was taken to hospital with minor injuries, the driver of the other vehicle involved died.
“We want to express our condolences to the victim’s family,” said sporting director Tom Caluwé. “We learned that the accident happened this morning, while Rick was on his way to his training. Nothing is yet known about the details of the accident. The Dutch police have opened an investigation. Van Drongelen was loaned out by Union Berlin in January.
