Rick Mendezmusician known for his pop punk style and his covers of classics on YouTube, presents his new single “Drogheda”. This release, their third single of 2024, captures the emotional intensity of a farewell in an energetic and raw sound, characteristic of their influences from bands such as Green Day, Jimmy Eat World y The Cure.
Inspired by a relationship that culminates with the departure of one of its protagonists to the Irish city of Drogheda, the song explores the pain of an imminent end.
Méndez, who has been working on his first studio album, projects in “Drogheda” his artistic maturity. The song stands out not only for its vibrant production and nostalgic touch, but also because Méndez takes on the full role of songwriter, performer and producer, reflecting his distinctive style and evolution in the independent music scene. This piece, along with the previously released single “Pensamientos,” is part of a debut album scheduled for later this year.
After the good reception of his first original single “Kintsukuroi” in 2023, “Drogheda” reaffirms the introspective approach and energetic sound that characterize Méndez.
