Jeff Bezos added $ 13 billion to his fortune on Monday, the biggest single-day jump for an individual since the creation of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index in 2012.
Shares of Amazon.com Inc. jumped 7.9%, the largest since December 2018 amid growing optimism about web buying trends, and are now up 73% this year.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos saw his fortune swell by $ 74 billion in 2020 to $ 189.3 billion, despite the United States entering its worst economic recession since the Great Depression. He is the richest man in the world ahead of Bill Gates (118 billion dollars) and Bernard Arnault (94.7 billion dollars).
Mackenzie Bezos, his ex-wife, who owns 4% of the capital of Amazon, also saw his fortune ignite Monday with a gain of 4.58 billion dollars.
She is the second richest woman in the world with an estimated personal fortune of $ 63.1 billion and the thirteenth richest person in the world.
