Richard Torrez Jr. Wins Comfortable TKO Victory at “Janibek vs. Gualtieri” Undercard

Undefeated 2020 Olympic super heavyweight silver medalist Richard Torrez Jr. scored a comfortable victory with a second-round TKO victory over Tyrrell Anthony Herndon in one of the main undercard bouts of the “Janibek vs. Gualtieri”, which took place at the Fort Bend Community Center, in Rosenberg, Texas, United States.

Torrez Jr. clearly dominated Herndon, whom he sent to the canvas twice in the second round, before the referee decided to suspend the actions because Herndon was no longer throwing punches and was clearly being outclassed. The official time was 1:26 minutes of the second round.

With this result, Torrez Jr. improved his record to 7-0, with 7 knockouts, while Herndon fell to 21-5, with 14 knockouts.

In other results, Olympic heavyweight Guido “The Gladiator” Vianello (11-1-1, 9 KOs) scored an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Curtis Harper (14-10, 9 KOs). The scores were 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 in favor of Vianello.

For his part, undefeated super lightweight Giovanni Márquez (7-0, 5 KOs), son of former world champion Raúl Márquez, achieved an impressive second-round TKO over Donté Strayhorn (12-5-1, 4 KOs). Marquez knocked down Strayhorn twice in the second round and earned a referee stoppage at 2:47.

American Olympic silver medalist Duke Ragan (9-0, 1 KO) survived a fifth-round knockdown and earned a split decision against Jose Perez (11-2-2, 5 KOs) in an eight-round weight clash feather. The scores were 76-75 and 76-75 for Regan and 76-75 for Perez.

Undefeated super lightweight Kelvin “Night Night” Davis (9-0, 6 KOs), Keyshawn’s older brother, faced Narciso Carmona (11-1-1, 6 KOs) in eight rounds and won with scores of 80- 72, 79-73 and 77-75.

In other results, Alan García defeated Nelson Hampton in six rounds at lightweight; Humberto Galindo outpointed Oscar Bravo in eight rounds at super featherweight and Jakhongir Zokirov knocked out Guillermo Del Río at heavyweight in the fourth round.
