VSS Unity aircraft from Virgin Galactic has taken off from the New Mexico area, United States, with the founder, Richard Branson. Yes, one of Britain’s richest men has started his quest to achieve space.
In the latest released photo, Richard Branson is in the spacecraft with three other people. Quoted detikINET from the BBC, the craft will take about an hour and a half before reaching Earth orbit or space.
In this mission, Unity is carried by a larger plane. At an altitude of 15 kilometers, Unity will be released into space. Richard Branson and the rest of the crew will also be able to enjoy stunning views of Earth, as will be experienced by tourists who have purchased Virgin Galactic tickets.
Branson founded Virgin Galactic in 2004 to provide space travel. Previously, he had founded many large companies such as conglomerate Virgin Group and airline Virgin Atlantic.
The three Virgin Galactic employees accompanying Branson are Chief Astronaut Instructor Beth Moses, Lead Operations Engineer Colin Bennett, and Vice President of Government Affairs and Research Operations Sirisha Bandla.
Branson admits he’s been wanting to go to space for a long time. “I’ve wanted to go to space since I was a kid, and I hope to also take hundreds of thousands of people over the next hundred years to go there,” Branson said.
“And why should they go to space? Space is amazing, the universe is amazing. I want people to be able to see our beautiful Earth and come back home and work hard to protect it,” he added. Richard Branson.
