He pointed out that the lentil content, which is rich in dietary fiber, promotes regular bowel movement, preventing constipation, and supports the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestines that improve the digestion process.
The fiber in lentils reduces bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglyceride levels and increases good cholesterol (HDL) levels, which reduces the risk of heart disease.
Dr Jihan Fouad, director of the National Institute of Nutrition, said that there is a map of the state of malnutrition in Egypt and that there is great interest in children, as they are Egypt’s future, noting that anemia and obesity include the name of “malnutrition”, and to improve the numbers in the prepared map, infrastructure, water and health projects and direct interventions must be improved, following from the beginning during pregnancy and continuing to follow the diet some children.
And he added, during an intervention with the media, Sarah Hazem, on the “Al-Youm” program, which is broadcast on the “Al-Youm” channel.dmc“Attention since pregnancy is very important because in Egypt we have a big problem with breastfeeding rates, which are low at 13%, which greatly affects the natural immunity of children, in addition to working on the care of anemia, which is very complex and caused by dietary habits”. Wrong, like drinking tea and eating meat wrong, and to work on it right, the work is done by providing care and taking care of immunity.
And he continued: “Collective measures must be taken by the various institutions to modify these numbers, which is what is being worked on now, and school meals alone will not solve the problem of malnutrition of children, but will help at least 30 % of the baby’s needs, and includes protein and carbohydrates.”
