RIAU1.COM – Simpang Baru Health Center settles Dengue prevention in Binawidya District

RIAU1.COM – Simpang Baru Community Health Center held an outreach about preventing the breeding of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to the people of Binawidya District. This outreach aims to increase public awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness and taking preventive measures against disease. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD).

“To provide socialization about preventing the spread of dengue to the community, the DHF program manager, disease investigation officers, and Health Promotion officers (Promkes) from the Simpang Baru Community Health Center are holding this program. We really appreciate this initiative,” he said. Pekanbaru Health Service Secretary (Dinkes), Dr. Fira Septiyanti, Sunday (20/10/2024).

The outreach was done using loudspeakers from the operational vehicles of the Simpang Baru Community Health Centre. The vehicle goes around every road and housing sector to appeal to residents.

“In addition to giving advice, they distributed Abate mosquito repellent to residents. In addition, education about dengue fever and Polio vaccine (PIN Polio) was also given,” explained Dr. Fira .

DHF is a disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. DHF sufferers will experience symptoms of severe pain, especially in the bones and joints, which feel like they are broken.

According to data from the Ministry of Health in 2023, Indonesia recorded about 114,720 cases of dengue fever with 894 deaths. To prevent dengue fever, the government urges residents to eliminate Mosquito Nest (PSN) or 3M Plus.

First, drain the water reservoir. Second, close water reservoirs.

Third, recycle items that can be breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Fourth, install wire mesh on windows and ventilation.

Fifth, install curtains or mosquito nets on the bed. Sixth, use an anti-mosquito lotion that contains DEET.

Seventh, keep betta fish in a pond to eat mosquito larvae. Finally, keep plants that repel mosquitoes like lavender.

With this fieldwork, it is hoped that people will become more aware of the importance of maintaining a clean environment. Environmental cleanliness prevents the spread of dengue fever and other diseases.
