Riad Sattouf Grand Prix 2023

It’s a long story between Riad Sattouf and the Angoulême Festival. Fauve d’or in 2010 with Pascal Brutal then in 2015 with The Arab of the future, here he is elected by his Grand Prix 2023 pairs. Nothing surprising for this author who monopolizes the top of sales year after year with his great autobiographical fresco.

Communiqué

This year, the community of professional comic book authors awarded the Grand Prix of the International Comic Strip Festival to Riad Sattouf. He thus takes over from the Canadian Julie Doucet, rewarded last year by her peers.

Winner of numerous international awards (Los Angeles Times Graphic Novel Prize, Prize for Excellence at the Japan Media Arts Festival, Max und Moritz Prize) and translated into twenty-three languages, Riad Sattouf is one of the rare authors to have won twice the Fauve d’or for best album at the Angoulême International Comics Festival, in 2010 and 2015. Volume 6 of L’Arabe du Futur (Allary) is in the Official Selection 2023.

It is with great pleasure that the Festival allows him today to receive this high distinction as a reward for his work and his talent.
