The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) through the Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management (Ditjen PRL) discussed plans and strategies with PT PLN (Persero), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) on Friday, ( 14/1).

During the meeting, the Acting Director General of Marine Spatial Management, Pamuji Lestari emphasized that KKP is ready to provide facilitation and consultation for licensing the use of marine space in accordance with Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation and Government Regulation Number 21 of 2021 concerning Spatial Planning.

“We are ready to support and of course want the plans and strategies that have been drawn up in this synergy to provide electrical energy to run in accordance with applicable laws and regulations,” said Tari quoted from the KKP website, Saturday (15/1/2022).

Previously, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had held a meeting to discuss the regulation of the export of electricity by inviting related ministries/institutions and business entities in the electricity sector. With the support of the KKP, the Director of Electricity Business Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ida Nuryatin Finahari, also expressed appreciation for the provision of electricity sourced from EBT.

PLN plans to build an electricity system in Sumatra until it reaches the target to be ready to send electricity abroad. This was revealed in an explanation given by the Executive Vice President (EVP) of PLN’s Electricity System Planning, Edwin Nugraha Putra.

“For Indonesia-Singapore interconnection, later the location of the substation must be on the leading island as the most effective location for connection with EBT supplying plants,” said Edwin.

On the same occasion, the President Director of PLN Batam, Nyoman S. Astawa explained the background and business scheme of the consortium as well as the proposed new landing station in Batam, Riau Islands. The transmission from Indonesia to Singapore is built by PLN with a power wheeling scheme and all exporters of electrical energy to Singapore can use PLN’s business area.

“In terms of conformity to the submarine cable and/or pipeline corridor as stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Number 14 of 2021, the location of the landing station must be within the territorial area of Batam, so PT PLN Batam proposes a location on Lumba Besar Island to be a landing station, “explained Nyoman.
