Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The POM Agency has again issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Covid-19 vaccine, the newest Pfizer vaccine. This vaccine also has a number of side effects of its use.
The head of BPOM, Penny Lukito said that in general the safety was tolerable for all age groups. The most common occurrences are pain, fatigue, and fever.
“The most common occurrences include pain at the injection site, fatigue, headache, muscle aches, joint pain and fever,” said Penny in an online press conference, Thursday (15/7/2021).
He also explained that the efficacy of this vaccine for the age group 16 years and over was 95.5 percent. While the age of 12-15 years has 100 percent efficacy.
This also adds to the vaccine that can be used for teenagers from 12 years old. Previously, only Sinovac vaccine could be used for vaccines for children.
Pfizer vaccine is administered by intramuscular injection at a dose of 0.3 ml. The injections were carried out in two doses three weeks apart.
This EUA was given on Wednesday (14/7/2021) and added five types of vaccines that already have the same permit from BPOM.
The vaccines that have received EUA from BPOM are Coronavac, the Covid-19 vaccine produced by Biofarma, AstraZeneca and also Sinopharm. And finally there is Moderna which has obtained the same permission.
“Wednesday, July 14, 2021, we have issued an emergency use authorization for the Cominarty Vaccine produced by Pfizer and BioNTech with the mRNA platform,” he said.
