Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government plans to provide a booster Covid-19 vaccine to the public. Currently, a study is being conducted by a research institute with the Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ITAGI).
“Next year gives [vaksin] The booster is now being studied by research institutes with ITAGI to see a good combination,” said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, in an online press conference, Tuesday (26/10/2021).
He said he hopes that by the end of this year, the policy regarding booster vaccines can be taken.
However, the additional vaccine was not given to the whole community. BGS revealed that the third dose will be given to certain groups of people only.
The first is for those who are at high risk, namely health workers (nakes) and also the elderly group. In addition, it is also given to people who have impaired immunity, namely HIV and cancer.
“Nakes and the elderly (who are at high risk), people with impaired immunity are exposed to HIV and cancer,” he said.
For information, since a few months ago, health workers have received booster vaccines. The health workers had previously received two doses of Sinovac vaccine.
The group received the Moderna vaccine as an additional vaccine. The first vaccination was carried out at the National Central General Hospital Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) on July 16, 2021. There are 50 FKUI professors and a number of doctors getting vaccinated.
