Balikpapan –
Fuel imports will decrease by at least 100 thousand barrels per day next year. This is because the capacity of the Balikpapan refinery has increased from 260 thousand barrels per day to 360 thousand barrels per day.
“This refinery will increase its capacity from today’s 260 thousand barrels per day, which will increase to 360 thousand barrels per day. This means that starting October 2023 there will be a reduction in imports of BBM by 100 thousand barrels per day. This is quite a big value,” said the President Director. PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati during a visit to the Balikpapan Refinery, Saturday (8/1/2022).
The development of the Balikpapan Refinery requires an investment of around US$ 7 billion. The progress of this project is around 47%.
“During these 24 months of executing this project, the project has reached around 47 percent with a TKDN of 30.6%, or equivalent to Rp. 8.4 trillion. So, Rp. 8.4 trillion which rotates produces a multiplier effect for both domestic industry and absorption. workforce,” he explained.
Apart from the Balikpapan Refinery, the refinery capacity has also increased from the Balongan Refinery project.
“In addition to the Balikpapan RDMP, we are also currently building the Balongan RDMP, which will be completed in April this year. So in Balongan, the previous capacity of 125,000 barrels per day will increase to 150 thousand barrels per day with Euro V quality as well,” he said.
Project Costs Save Rp 28 T
The cost of the Balikpapan RDMP project has decreased from the original plan of US$ 9 billion to US$ 7 billion. The savings occurred because Pertamina did not purchase the three equipments. This means that there is a savings of around US$ 2 billion or around Rp. 28.4 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 14,200).
